Compare procedures, not pedigrees

Spoiler windows, map credit, and a few public doors you can trust, not a directory of every Discord under the sun.

Round table sharing one map under a spoiler ribbon

Write reaction and encumbrance calls once if you rotate referees. Shared paper is how a circle stays a table instead of a debate club.

Norms worth copying

  • Label spoilers for freshly released adventures and for in-progress sandboxes.
  • Separate rules archaeology from personal attacks; edition war is a dead end.
  • Credit freelancers and mapmakers when you share a layout or a tool.
  • Assume good faith; escalate to mods instead of pile-ons.

Forums and etiquette

Old-school threads can be blunt, so quote fairly and mark the module code. The useful posts teach a procedure you can run tomorrow: reaction in a keyed room, a hex stocking note, a hireling wage.

Readable keys beat gorgeous maps nobody can parse mid-turn. Remote tables still need clear audio and a shared marching order.

Public doors, not a phone book

Start with volunteer lists such as OSR reading lists (community), a free complete booklet at Basic Fantasy RPG, and booklet-dialect context at Necrotic Gnome / OSE. Verify a title before you treat it as canon.

Newcomers can land on Getting Started so they arrive with reaction, morale, and turns already defined.
